Julien Raboteau uses the pseudonym Jurictus in his work as a draftsman. His art is based on a sharp line with pen and ink, mostly black and white works. The images are part of a search for form: very detailed tree-like patterns where the eye can get lost in this complexity of detail. The artist does not seek to clarify or simplify but to reveal textures, forms from an invisible world, where one ventures step by step as in a Loïc-Raftian story. An incantatory drawing that reveals monsters, demons, chimeras, a whole universe in which one evolves with patience and determination. All these things constitute a Pandora's box with its personal mythology. His creatures may seem abstract but Jurictus also draws inspiration from popular culture. Fascinated by metal music, he draws hairy characters, moustaches thirsty for beer, glam-like Ziggy Stardusts, and Conanesque bodybuilding warriors.
