The son of a mechanic and road driver, Jean Crié has been drawing cars and other vehicles since his childhood. In 1987, he entered the Centre d'Aide par le Travail where he stayed for almost 20 years before attending workshops at the Carlotti Residence (a shelter for disabled adults in Halluin). It was there that he showed his drawings for the first time at the Differ'art Festival in 2011.
Jean Crié’s works are like an automobile catalogue where vehicles from different eras follow one another, set in narratives that recall comic books. The artist mixes of all sorts of techniques, drawing, painting and the gluing on of paper, leather, fur, feathers and other materials to give life to his characters.
The artist's work debuted at the Outsider Art Fair Paris in 2018 by Galerie Pol Lemétais.
